The 1968 Miami Pop Festival was the first ever rock festival on the East coast, including performances by music legends like Jimi Hendrix and Frank Zappa. HistoryMiami asked us to showcase their collection of photos, videos and artifacts from the festival in an exhibit that would make every museum visitor feel like they were part of the original festival experience.
One style that has always inspired us as designers are the vibrant, colorful, and sometimes grungy concert posters from the 60’s and 70’s era. After days of inspiring, fun and trippy research, the result was a psychedelic trip through Miami’s rock n’ roll past.
Opening night was attended by over 600 people and featured a live performance by Jimi Hendrix’s brother, Leon Hendrix. It was an honor to design an exhibit commemorating this historic event, and we can’t wait to work with HistoryMiami again.
